Ever wonder where the world is headed? Here we are, this lovely blue little planet circling our distant sun. Alone (perhaps) in a universe. I watch the news, i read the papers, i sometimes read on other people's blogs and forum posts and see the rancor that exists. We cannot get along, we seem bound and determined to foolishly eradicate ourselves and this fragile blue speck moving through the dark recesses of space. Christians against muslims, Catholics against Prostetant, Hindu hating Sihk. Black against white, brown against yellow...The insanity that breaks forth like storm surges astounds me. It is like we do not know when to stop. Like a person, overweight obsessing on food, fully knowing that their obsession could destroy them and unable to resist that extra bite, the last piece of pie, we too are obsessed with enabling our own destruction. We are destroying our planet...we gleefully send our youth off to war admidst waving of flags and strangely cruel nationalism and patriotic sadism. We allow the folds and fabric of flags to cover our eyes and blind us. We allow the removal of complete forests...we pollute the rivers and lakes that sustain us...we kill coral...the waters off Miami are dead now.
We pray and honour the dead but do not think to stop the slaughter, to do so is to not love one's country. To protest war and the obsenity it is, is considered sacriledge. The coffins, flag draped are removed from large bellied planes in shameful secrecy.
I feel my bitterness rising within me like bitter bile, the acid eating into my throat until I am hardly able to breathe. Turmoil churning inside me...
